2019 Public Service Award

Back

Corporal Benjamin N. Comer, Troop A, is the recipient of the 2019 MASTERS Public Service Award.  We regret we were not able to honor him in person in April as our Annual Banquet was cancelled due to COVID-19.  We look forward to presenting Cpl. Comer with his award in the future.

In both his professional and personal life, Corporal Benjamin N. Comer, Troop A, embodies the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Core Values. Appointed to the Patrol in 2002, Corporal Comer is known for enforcing the law with compassion, fairness, and integrity. He assists the local Troop A zones when he is not working marine enforcement and during the winter months. He volunteers much of his off-duty time to community service. He has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for much of his life. Corporal Comer serves as a den leader for Cub Scout Pack 34. He meets with at least four cub scouts each week to help them with projects and teach them life lessons. He also takes them on campouts. Corporal Comer also serves as an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 34. An eagle scout himself, he has mentored and assisted youth with their eagle scout projects. He volunteers as a co-coach of the Optimize Hydration Girls 16 and under softball team, and is an assistant coach of the Warsaw Wildcat third and fourth grade baseball team. In the fall, he volunteers as an assistant coach for the third and fourth grade football team. Members of his community describe him as always willing to help, a hard worker, and someone who treats everyone equally. The youth he coaches consider him a trusted mentor. Corporal Comer is considered a pillar in the community, a dedicated husband and father, and a tremendous example of how a Missouri state trooper should conduct themselves on and off duty.

The MASTERS Public Service Award honors Corporal Benjamin Comer's professional and personal service to the people of Missouri.
