Lieutenant Nathan C. Ahern, Troop A

Lieutenant Nathan C. Ahern, Troop A, began his career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol on January 1, 1993. Aside from his 31 years of exemplary service and protection to the citizens of Missouri, Lieutenant Ahern has had a huge positive impact on the community in which he lives. 

While stationed in Sedalia, Missouri, he was active in the Lions Club of Sedalia, which supports many charitable causes throughout that area. For many years, Lieutenant Ahern has been a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Sedalia. As a board member, he assists with their mission of keeping young people safe by providing an environment where they can learn, play, and grow. Lieutenant Ahern is also a board member of the Missouri State Fair Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to cultivating the future of agriculture through preservation, education, and improvements. He is a member and elder of the LifePointe Church, Sedalia, Missouri. Lieutenant Ahern has utilized his knowledge and resources by volunteering his services and construction equipment to help remodel different buildings in the LifePointe Church network. In addition, he has been a cook in their cafe when needed. Also, he has provided his construction skills to assist with Habitat for Humanity projects. More recently, Lieutenant Ahern volunteered his services to assist the Baptist Ridge Camp in Warsaw, Missouri, prepare for their summer camps. This involved a lot of dirt work, cleanup, and laying sewer lines.

Lieutenant Ahern has been involved in public service his entire career, both on and off duty. His volunteer work epitomizes the Patrol’s core values. The Fred M. Mills MASTERS Public Service Award honors Lieutenant Nathan C. Ahern’s professional and personal service to the people of Missouri.
