Fred M Mills MASTERS Public Service Award

In 2001, MASTERS implemented The MASTERS Public Service Award. The Board Members felt that in addition to providing support for a Trooper's family when tragedy occurs, we wanted to honor the Trooper whose service excels in the Patrol's timeless commitment to enforce the law.

Each year, MASTERS presents the Public Service Award in recognition of a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol who excels in the level of service they provided to an individual or community in enhancing the Patrol's motto of "Service and Protection".

The award is in recognition of not only the importance of "Public Service" but to the level of service our citizens receive, and how they are treated in the process; it is the level of caring and commitment to excellence that we recognize each year.  The difficulty of selecting one recipient is a testment to the professionalism and character of the Men and Women within the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

In January 2021, Ret. Col. Fred M. Mills, announced to the MASTERS Board that he did not plan to seek re-election of his Director Term which expired in April 2021.   Since 1999, Ret. Col. Mills served as a Troop A Director for The MASTERS.  Throughout his time serving on the Board of Directors Fred made an impact for The MASTERS and dedicated many hours of service to our organization.  In April 2021, The MASTERS Board of Directors voted to rename our Public Service Award to The Fred M. Mills MASTERS Public Service Award in honor of Fred’s service and dedication to The MASTERS.

We proudly recognize each of these recipients for their dedication and service to their communities.
